I had to speak out. Since I found out about what happened to my sister, friend and fellow missionary worker in Haiti. I sat back and watched people post the article about her death. My perspective~ Roberta is not a Breaking News Story. She was my sister. She was dedicated and a faithful worker for GOD in Haiti. I've known her for 20 years. When I 1st started going to Haiti 1996, Roberta Audate was the buzz about her work in Haiti. I had to met her and get to know her. We talked and talked and the relationship grew. We could identify with each other and the lack of attention and support that missionary work in Haiti received. How it was a non-factor to so many African Americans in general and in the church.
But that didn't stop either of us. We continue to do GOD's work. For many years Jeff Murrah and myself supported her. She was grateful and humbled. She took kids into her home. Never turning them away. She went through storms and stayed the course. She loved the Haitian people as they were her people. She spoke the language fluently and was very comfortable (maybe too comfortable) in Haiti. She was home.
I am going to say this again, she is NOT a Breaking News Story or someone that you should feel sorry for. She's died doing what she loved.
I say this to you all that may read this. I have been asking for support for Haiti for 20 years and have been rejected by most and ignored by some. Sometimes asking people right here on FaceBook for a mere $2.00 and crickets. If you really care about Roberta or her story has pricked your heart, Please Support what she died doing, helping the Haitian People. Please Donate and support the Missionary Workers for Haiti. Do something other than feel sorry or sad for her. Roberta is good, she had fought the good fight. She's with the Lord now. #mourningthelostfortheliving
