Child Rearing and Education. Very young children are indulged, but by the age of seven or eight most rural children engage in serious work. Children are important in retrieving household water and firewood and helping to cook and clean around the house. Children look after livestock, help their parents in the garden, and run errands. Parents and guardians are often harsh disciplinarians, and working-age children may be whipped severely. Children are expected to be respectful to adults and obedient to family members, even to siblings only a few years older than themselves. They are not allowed to talk back or stare at adults when being scolded. They are expected to say thank you and please. If a child is given a piece of fruit or bread, he or she must immediately begin breaking the food and distributing it to other children. The offspring of elite families are notoriously spoiled and are reared from an early age to lord it over their less fortunate compatriots.
Tremendous importance and prestige are attached to education. Most rural parents try to send their children at least to primary school, and a child who excels and whose parents can afford the costs is quickly exempted from the work demands levied on other children.

As far back as I can remember my mom Sheryl Murrah has been going to Haiti when I was about 3 I remember being in the basement and seeing her packing and washing clothes. I asked her what are you doing mommy? She said baby you know the Haitians that I tell you about well these clothes are for them and I said why can't they buy their own things? She said cause doesn't have the money to do so. I then said well why don't they move here she said cause that's there home. I then went up stairs and gathered some of my toys and came back in the basement and put them in the box.
At the age of 5 I did my first presentation at McDonald's, Wendy's and etc. I would give my spill to the managers and get the happy meals for the toys. They would come out with boxes of toys as donations.
My parents traveled the country doing benefit concerts and my mom would do speaking engagements to bring awareness of the conditions in Haiti. My dad would sing.
Then it was time for her to leave and go. I would beg and beg to go but she always said that I was to young. I would be sad when she left but I knew she wouldn't have left if she didn't have too. She sacrificed a lot my birthdays, her birthdays, Christmas, spring breaks and her life for her love. Missionary Work in Haiti.
For my sixteenth birthday (which was this March) she and my family paid my expenses to Haiti. The experience was so amazing to help so many villages, plenty of churches and get to play with kids. Its a life changing experience. My whole perceptive on life has changed and so will yours.
Thanks Mommy for being you~

The St Raphael CoC. It took us 4 hours one way to reach this location. They have two ministers, I don't remember the 1st ones name but I do remember Bro Richard. Bro Richard is a graduate from the CBT 2nd class. He was sought out by the leaders of this church to be taught the gospel. Bro Richard has several churches that he works with along with working with the CBT. I will share more abt Richard at a later date.

We don't want to appear to be beggars or  pests. Only servants of the LORD. That has charged us to care for the widows and the orphanages in their distress, to feed, to clothes, to visit those that are sick and in prison. That's what I do and that's who I am. My heart is in the right place, helping others here in the U.S., Haiti and other countries as well.
As time rapidly approaches we have not met our targets as of yet. But I know we will exceed our goal. Because that's what GOD does, when we trust HIM. However a week or so ago. I ask if there was anyone that was willing to sponsor a sister to go to Haiti and got a few responses. Which is great. I am asking again. If you are financially able to do so, please let me know. It's not require to pay the full amount which is about $1,500.00 pp, but if you can find it in your heart to help with the big ticket items like the airfares would be a bonus. Or if you can only afford to pay for someone's room and board that's $140.00 for the week. That's awesome. We'll take it. We're here for a purpose and a cause. We're here because we are liked-minded, we are here because Missionary Work is Designed and Approved by God. Think on it. Let me know. We must have everything paid for by Jan 20th. Bless someone, Bless GOD too, for blessing You. Please send check donations payable to : Compassion Haitian Leaders, P.O.Box 23047 Charlotte, NC 28227, for more info, please call 650-766-0822.
I had to speak out. Since I found out about what happened to my sister, friend and fellow missionary worker in Haiti. I sat back and watched people post the article about her death. My perspective~ Roberta is not a Breaking News Story. She was my sister. She was dedicated and a faithful worker for GOD in Haiti. I've known her for 20 years. When I 1st started going to Haiti 1996, Roberta Audate was the buzz about her work in Haiti. I had to met her and get to know her. We talked and talked and the relationship grew. We could identify with each other and the lack of attention and support that missionary work in Haiti received. How it was a non-factor to so many African Americans in general and in the church.
But that didn't stop either of us. We continue to do GOD's work. For many years Jeff Murrah and myself supported her. She was grateful and humbled. She took kids into her home. Never turning them away. She went through storms and stayed the course. She loved the Haitian people as they were her people. She spoke the language fluently and was very comfortable (maybe too comfortable) in Haiti. She was home.
I am going to say this again, she is NOT a Breaking News Story or someone that you should feel sorry for. She's died doing what she loved.
I say this to you all that may read this. I have been asking for support for Haiti for 20 years and have been rejected by most and ignored by some. Sometimes asking people right here on FaceBook for a mere $2.00 and crickets. If you really care about Roberta or her story has pricked your heart, Please Support what she died doing, helping the Haitian People. Please Donate and support the Missionary Workers for Haiti. Do something other than feel sorry or sad for her. Roberta is good, she had fought the good fight. She's with the Lord now. ‪#‎mourningthelostfortheliving‬

We have another SHOUT OUT for our beloved Belinda Moore for her generous donation. May Our GOD continue to bless you as you have blessed HIS People. To God be the Glory!! #ITSALLABTGOD
GOD is still at work. Blessing us much more than we deserve. His servant Aida Pellon has pledged to sponsor another sister. That's 2 in one night. We now have a total of 3 sisters that have committed to sponsor a sister to travel to Haiti. I believe we have more, I know GOD will touch others' hearts and they too will commit. Because it 's ALL ABOUT GOD and HIM getting the Glory that HE and only HE deserves. Let's give GOD the Praise for all things. Thank HIM for all things. Thank YOU JESUS. Thank You!!

Missionary work is highly needed, it's crucial, a must!
Here is the reason why:
Millions of people have never heard of the Salvation Story. And we talked of the second coming while half of the world never heard of the first.

We are raising money to give God the Glory that He so Rightfully deserve. We are planning our 20th year Anniversary of doing Missionary Work in N. Haiti and would like you to be a part of it. Our next trip will be in March of 2016. Our Team consists of sisters of the CoC. Please support the cause and give an offering to help those that are in Haiti to eat a meal, to drink clean/fresh water, to wear clean clothes and to receive the Gospel of Christ. So I ask you to please consider giving not to me but to the cause of helping others. Together we can make a difference.
Proverbs 19:17 Whoever is kind to the poor lends to the Lord and he will reward them for what they have done.
It might be us now, but it can be tomorrow that stand in need of help. Thanks for your donation and if you want to join us in Christ on our next journey to Haiti. Please contact~ Lydia Matias or Sheryl Murrah for more info. Thanks again and be a blessing~

I first want to thank God almighty for allowing me to work with you all. It couldn't have been done without your participation and cooperation. You get MISSIONARY WORK. Which is a Great thing. On 12 January 2010, Haiti suffered a devastating earthquake, magnitude 7.0 with a death toll estimated by the Haitian government at over 300,000, and by non-Haitian sources from 50,000 to 220,000. Aftershocks followed, including one of magnitude 5.9. The capital city, Port-au-Prince, was effectively leveled. A million Haitians were left homeless, and hundreds of thousands starved. The earthquake caused massive devastation, with most buildings crumbled, including Haiti's presidential palace. The enormous death toll made it necessary to bury the dead in mass graves. Most bodies were unidentified and few pictures were taken, making it impossible for families to identify their loved ones. The spread of disease was a major secondary disaster. Many survivors were treated for injuries in emergency makeshift hospitals, but many more died of gangrene, malnutrition, and infectious diseases.

A Few Interesting Facts about Haiti~
1. 2,500,000 Haitians live in extreme poverty. Haiti is the poorest country in the northern hemisphere.
2. Two Haitians out of three live with less than $2 per day.
3. 10% of the richest Haitians possess 70% of the country's total income.
4. 50% of urban Haitians are unemployed.
5. Although agriculture is an important sector of Haiti’s economy, the country fails to produce enough food and imports more than 50% for its population’s needs. It imports 80% of its main staple: rice.
6. 90% of farmers depend on rain for their harvest as only 10% of the crops are irrigated.
7. 100,000 children under five suffer from acute malnutrition while one child out of three is stunted, or irreversibly short for their age.
8. Less than 50% of households have access to safe water and only 25% benefit from adequate sanitation.
9. One third of Haitian children and women are anemic.

What you see here is the Village of Grande Rivere (Big River). Many of the villagers come here to do laundry, get water to cook with and bathe(not to mention the livestock wash/drink here too). The Haitians lay their clothes on the shores to dry in the Sun. And we think we have it hard with a washer and a dryer. A normal day in Haiti~

In Haiti they don't have private rooms. They have open air hospitals. So if you have typhoid you're in the room with a person that might have leprous or kidney stones or a hernia. Everyone is in the same room. And to go along with all that. The hospital does not feed you, provide clean gowns or provide meds for you. Your family brings in food and meds. Or guess what missionaries bring you food or meds.
